António Marques da Cruz
The practice of organic wine production at Quinta da Serradinha dates back to 1978 when António Marques da Cruz's father discovered it at a fair in Montpellier. Several years later, in 1994, when organic production began to be regulated in Portugal, the estate obtained organic certification for its wines, and became one of the first to have their wines organically certified.
Currently, they continue to produce wine using organic methods, now under the guidance of António Marques da Cruz, the fifth generation of the Marques da Cruz family, who were pioneers in organic farming.
The estate comprises 5 hectares of vineyards, some of which were planted as far back as 1957, in clay-limestone soils on south-facing slopes. The region benefits from an Atlantic-influenced climate, allowing for the production of wines with refreshing mineral character, aromatic complexity, and depth.
