João M. Barbosa
The story of João M. Barbosa wines begins in 1976 when João Matos Barbosa himself started selling wine in the family business. In 1997, he founded the company João TM Barbosa Vinhos, which currently operates with two wineries in two different regions: Alto Alentejo and Tejo. Organic grape production has been in practice since 2012 in the Alto Alentejo region and, since 2020, also in the Tejo region.
As a family-owned company with a deep respect for nature and the land, they prioritize low-intervention natural wines to ensure that the wine reflects the specific year and location of the harvest, making them unique and authentic "wines of author." Committed to environmental friendliness, João M. Barbosa wines follow a policy of water reuse, avoiding using pesticides, and during the winemaking process, no oenological products are added except for small quantities of sulfur before bottling.
The company is guided by the symbolism of the blue rose, which is present in all their products, with a promise to always strive for improvement. Responsible production is not just a goal, but a way of life.
