Tiago Teles and António Marques da Cruz
COZs is the result of a partnership between two Portuguese winemakers, Tiago Teles (known for Gilda and Raiz wines) and António Marques da Cruz (from Quinta da Serradinha).
In 2015, they harvested grapes from the abandoned vineyards of the iconic Quinta dos Cozinheiros, located in Figueira da Foz, and produced two wines primarily from the Baga grape variety, combined with a variety of white and red grape varieties. These grapes were grown in clay-limestone soils using organic farming methods, in a climate influenced by the Atlantic.
In early 2017, the duo acquired a 35-year-old vineyard in the Serra de Montejunto, planted in clay-limestone soils with the Vital grape variety. Here, too, organic farming practices are followed. Currently, COZs wines are produced from predominantly old vineyards, many of which are located on the slopes of the Serra de Montejunto, and they offer a broader range of grape varieties and profiles than just the original Baga grapes from Quinta dos Cozinheiros.
