Catarina Moreira & David Picard
In the heart of the historic Belém district in Lisbon, Catarina Moreira and David Picard bring to life Adega Belém, an urban enology project dedicated to creating authentic wines that express the Atlantic identity of the region.
With a philosophy of minimal intervention, the couple works on an artisanal scale with selected grapes from coastal vineyards, transforming them into vibrant wines that reflect both the unique terroir and their distinctive vision of winemaking art. They work with grapes from the Estoril Coast, Tapada da Ajuda in Monsanto, and Alenquer, allowing them to capture the true character of the Atlantic terroir.
In the winery, all wines follow a process of spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts without the addition of sulfites and favoring whole berries. The couple's environmental commitment is also embodied in the packaging design, which combines artistic labels created by their family (mainly by their daughters Ana and Sofia) with sustainable materials such as ultra-light bottles and natural cork.
